ABOUT IPA<\/p>\n

The history of the International Police Association began with a simple idea: that friendship and personal understanding between police officers could overcome borders and contribute to closer international cooperation.<\/p>\n

Arthur Troop and the birth of IPA<\/h2>\n

The International Police Association was founded on 1 January 1950<\/strong> by Arthur Troop<\/strong>, a sergeant with Lincolnshire Police in the United Kingdom. His aim was to create an organisation that would build bonds of friendship and understanding between police officers from different countries.<\/p>\n

That vision also gave rise to the motto Servo per Amikeco<\/strong> \u2014\u201cService through friendship\u201d\u2014 which continues to identify the association today.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Foundation<\/h3>\n

Arthur Troop officially establishes the International Police Association on 1 January 1950.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1955<\/span><\/p>\n

First World Congress<\/h3>\n

The expansion of new national sections strengthens the international dimension of the association.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1961<\/span><\/p>\n

Expansion beyond Europe<\/h3>\n

Canada and Hong Kong become the first affiliated sections outside Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1969<\/span><\/p>\n

Gimborn Centre<\/h3>\n

The International Education and Conference Centre at Gimborn is established in Germany, becoming a historic centre for IPA training and education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

IPA in Spain<\/h2>\n

The first contacts that would eventually lead to the creation of the Spanish Section date back to 1958<\/strong>, following a visit by police officers from Oberhausen to Barcelona. Ram\u00f3n Trepat, then head of the Barcelona Municipal Police, played a decisive role in those early steps.<\/p>\n

On 11 September 1961<\/strong>, during the Third World Congress held in Stuttgart, the Spanish Section was admitted as a full member of the International Police Association.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
